What is a Cheque Payment?

«Cheque Payment» (also spelled «Check Payment» in American English) is a written order directing a bank to pay a specific sum from the drawer's account to the named payee.

Types of cheques

• Bearer cheque: Payable to whoever presents it
• Order cheque: Payable only to the named payee or their endorsee
• Certified / Guaranteed cheque: Bank confirms sufficient funds are reserved
• Traveller's cheque: Pre-printed fixed denominations for international travel
